Resepi Kek Oren Mudah

Senang sahaja resepi nya, it only took me ~1 hour to prepare & bake it! Dan rasanya sedap, lembut, dan sudah tentu mahu buat lagi selepas ini. Siapa-siapa suka resepi mudah dan senang dan cepat boleh cuba ya...

(sila rujuk pada gambar)

Selamat mencuba! \(^_^)/

Aidiladha 2013

Pertama kali beraya Aidiladha bersama suami.

Kebetulan pula kakak ipar baru sahaja melahirkan anaknya yang ke-2 akhir September lalu, maka pergi melawat anak saudara baru la kita ya. Alhamdulillah kedua-dua bayi dan mak nya sihat walafiat.

Semoga sambutan Aidiladha pada tahun-tahun berikutnya lebih meriah insyaAllah. ☺

Review: My Wedding

I had my wedding in Terengganu. So I hope that this blog entry can help brides-to-be (especially from Terengganu) in their wedding preparations, if not so much, a lil'.

When it comes to wedding you have to think about many things. Please prepare at least 6 months before the event to make sure everything goes on very smoothly. Don't be very cerewet as a bride, I mind you. This is to avoid stress that may happen while you prepare for your wedding thingy.

1. My Wedding Invitation (Card)

the prototype of our wedding card

I booked my wedding card 2 months before the big day. I wanted a simple card, cheap of course which could be done as soon as possible. After looking around for the best shop to make our cards, we chose to go to a Chinese card shop as the service is fast and reliable. As our cards were combined for both events in Terengganu and Bintulu, I followed my husband's choice of the card, to make the process easier. We managed to get the cards printed only in ~10 working days after I confirmed the design and artwork. If you are searching for a wedding card vendor that can print your card quite fast at a very affordable price, try Redcard (we did our cards here). Redcard has many branches, just go to the one nearest to your place or alternatively contact them via email/call, they will entertain you for sure. Oh yea, one more, if you book 1000 pieces of card with Redcard, you will get one free wedding bunting (sadly, my husband forgot to take ours before the wedding, ending up we didn't have wedding bunting (eventhough we actually had it), I felt like I wanna punch him on his face for this hahaha *just joking*

I also invited people via Facebook event (this was just to announce and asking for people's addresses who needed my real invitation card) and did an online invitation on Wedding Wire website (it is free of charge, you may do yours too there), you can view my wedding invitation at the link (it is still there, for you to preview it) - Hairul-Akmar wedding invitation

2. My Official Wedding Photographer

As I knew my wedding date ~6 months before the day, I had quite a range of choices of Terengganu photographers to be chosen as my photographer. I was confused whether to choose Snapcolor or NuzulTaufiqArt as my official one. Both of them are Terengganunians. After discussing with my husband, we decided to book Snapcolor, as Snapcolor is in Terengganu all the time (Nuzul is based in Utara Semenanjung, but he does take booking in Terengganu on public holiday as Terengganu is his hometown.) Working with Azrul the main photographer of Snapcolor team, I can say that he is very professional, friendly and talented one. I met him for the first time on my wedding day itself (had no chance to meet him before that), luckily he is so friendly I could make myself to be comfortable with him just in few minutes hahaha. Azrul came on my wedding day during solemnization (9-11.30 am) then he went back to his place for a while before he came again at about 1.30 pm for my bersanding time. Managed to have my wedding outdoor photoshoot only 2 days after the wedding due to 2 rainy days after my wedding day. I got my wedding photo album about 3 months after my wedding, Azrul had many outstation jobs when he was editing my pictures, so I could understand why it took a longer time for him to settle my photo album.

I had my second outdoor photoshoot with another Terengganu photographer, MZulkifli Photocapture, around a week later. It was just for fun, as I said to my husband I wanted to take wedding photos by the seaside hahaha. So this was just an additional outdoor wedding photoshoot for us. Zulkifli is a young photographer in Terengganu (I think he has not reach his 25 yet), he is very talented and talkative, his service was very fast I got my DVD only after 2 weeks of the photoshoot day. And that was awesome.

3. Baju Nikah and Baju Bertandang

I decided to have a baju nikah which I can keep with me (sentimental value la kononnya).. So my husband bought his ready made baju melayu, white color from Jakel. Mine, I bought kebaya pendek (as I am short!), white color also, from an online seller. As I hate wearing corset, I asked for my auntie to sew a white inner for me, that acted as a lining for the kebaya. You can try searching for online boutiques selling wedding items here - Baju Kebaya Pengantin, Kedaisonline Langkawi, Ikram Creatives and many more.

For majlis sambut menantu/bertandang on my husband's side, as I found it hard and costly to go to Bintulu just for wedding dress fitting, I said to my husband, that buying baju kahwin songket could be a better and easier option for us. So we went to Jalan TAR, a shop named Bright Sail in the Semua House mall, and got ourselves Sut 8 songket pengantin. I added by myself the border lace on my songket.

I bought by myself also my nikah veil, my wedding shoes, the big brooches I used for my persalinan songket, and my wedding tiara. In conclusion I really have the full set items for my nikah and songket (wedding) attires, so anyone who wishes to rent these items, you may do so okay, of course I will offer the best rental price, just contact me via my email erol.kmar(at) :-) I am living in Klang Valley now so that should be no problem for most of you.

4. Bridal Boutique Package (wedding attires, make up, dais, meja makan beradap, biridal room, hand bouquet)

As a bride you have no time to think every little details of your wedding by yourself. One of the easiest things to do is by booking the wedding package available in bridal boutiques all over the country. You can find packages as cheap as RM1000 to thousands ringgit, depending on your budget and preferences. I decided to book a package in Drs Anggun Butik Pengantin mainly because I love the wedding make up that Kak Ina, the owner of the wedding boutique does. She was the MUA for my sister and my sister-in-law for their weddings, so I had seen the result of her touch, in fact Kak Ina is one of the best MUA (Mak Andam) in Kuala Terengganu. The tips to get beautiful face during your wedding day are; choose a beautiful MUA so their beauty will give an aura to your face and choose female as your MUA to avoid your 'aura seri' being taken by non-females MUA (I practiced these when I chose Kak Ina). I really love the make up Kak Ina did for me for all my solemnization, bersanding and outdoor photoshoot events, so I did not regret of having her as my wedding MUA.

For me the most important parts in a wedding are to choose a good MUA and a good photographer. As I already got both which I loved, I did not spend much on others - wedding dais, bridal room, meja makan beradap and all. As long as my photographer could take good pictures of those then it was already okay for me. So my wedding dais was a simple one, as well as my bridal room decoration, meja makan beradap, wedding bouquet (I had pink roses-white daisies fresh flower as my wedding bouquet, Kak Ina settled it for me) and all. The same went to my wedding attires for bersanding, I chose to wear emerald green bridal dress for bersanding, and ivory gown for outdoor photoshoot, as both fitted my body quite well when I tested them in the boutique.

5. Food and canopy

This part, totally my dad and mum handled this. I just booked the canopy and accessories (periuk kuali senduk and all) from the nearest canopy vendor I knew. For my wedding we had nasi minyak, nasi putih, gulai daging kawah, ayam masak merah, acar timun, sayur labu air, bubur kacang and air sirap. Mainly my family members and my relatives were the ones who worked quite hard to make the food preparation part to be successful (masak gotong royong). And I asked for my younger sister's help to provide the food on meja makan beradap, alhamdulillah she did all of them quite delicious with the help of my elder sisters.

For the wedding cake, I chose Fida Arifin to bake it for me, as I wanted a wedding cake that my families and relatives could eat (I hate seeing wasted wedding cake that is only beautiful but tastes horrible). So I had oreo cheese and tiramisu cakes; two tiers wedding cake for my wedding. Kak Fida is one the best baker in Kuala Terengganu, her cakes are tasty, beautiful and affordable. Do book cakes from her if you want to eat delicious cakes ya.

6. Wedding Doorgifts

As a bride with the wedding held in kampung of course my doorgift would be a set of several things packed in a small bag. I bought the paperbags at sale price in Nilai 3, as well as my bunga telur (I chose Lily flower design). In the goodies bag, I put small 1-piece pocket size calendar which I booked from Kad Kahwin Borong, kalendar kenangan booked from Reem Doorgift, eggs (in a box or with bunga telur) and also sweets/chocolates bought from wholesale shop in Terengganu. As I did not customized my name on my paperbags, I booked stickers with my name (and husband) from Fancy Name Sticker. How many bags you should provide for your guests? This depends on the number of guests you invite, if you are having kenduri kahwin ala kampung like how I did, I would advise you to provide around 600-700 pieces of doorgifts, to avoid problems of not having enough pieces of doorgift later. For me doorgift is quite important as it is a way of showing our guests that we really appreciate they allocating their time, energy and effort to come to our weddings, so I think most of you will think the same too ☺

7. Hantarans

This part was very simple for our wedding. I just re-used bekas hantarans my sister gave to me (from her wedding 6 months before mine) and my husband booked the hiasan hantarans to be done by his brother-in-law's auntie. Husband gave me 7 things; Mas Kahwin, Gelang emas nikah, Sirih, Toiletries, Telekung Solat, Baju Kurung Batik Sutera, and Chocolate. And I gave him 9 things; Sirih, Cincin nikah, Baju and seluar kerja, Toiletries, Baju Kemeja Batik Sutera, Wallet and Belt,  Fruits, Cake, and Chocolate.

8. Guests - Family members, relatives, friends

I invited most family members, relatives and friends to attend my wedding. Here I would like to say many thanks to all my family members who worked really hard to make my wedding ceremony successful. I owed you all so much and only Allah yang mampu memberi ganjarannya.. Thanks also to my husband's sides who gave good cooperations for the whole day of our wedding and making our wedding to run on very smoothly.

To my friends who came, thanks a lot for coming, I will try my best to attend your weddings too. To my friends who did not able to come, I do understand some of you had your own plans and matters, so don't worry, it's okay. I do remember who were attending my weddings, to those who were lucky you were able to snap some pictures with me as I was available and could entertain you. To those who came but did not manage to snap any pictures with me, I am very sorry, as around 12-2pm my photographer was not around and I was busy preparing myself to change my wedding attire and make up (many friends did come during this time who did not have pictures of me during the wedding, don't worry I do remember everyone who came ♥).

Thanks to everyone who made my wedding to be beautiful. I pray to Allah to grant you all happiness, health and wealth, always ♥

So I think that's all I can share about my wedding vendors and preparations. Hope this helps some brides who are searching for reliable vendors (can click on the name of the vendor to have a look at their websites and contact numbers) for their weddings. Happy preparing to all brides-to-be and enjoy your wedding preparation ya~

Aidilfitri 2013

For the first time in my life I celebrated Aidilfitri not in my hometown hehe (I mean, the first-2nd-3rd day of Syawal lah). Went to husband's hometown to celebrate Aidilfitri with his family. Alhamdulillah everything went very well.

Me and husband arrived in Bintulu, Sarawak, from KLIA, a day before Aidilfitri, on the afternoon. My father in law fetched us, so right after arriving Bintulu Airport we went straight home. We had a quick nap at home before I accompanied my husband and his dad to buy 'air kotak' and 'air tin' for Raya preparation. At that time I just found out that Sarawakians buy ready made drinks to serve to guests who are coming for raya (it makes serving drinks to guests easier and faster!) Then we went home preparing for buka puasa and raya food, I did feel quite exhausted (due to pregnancy) and my mother in law saw how tired I was and she asked me to do less work and go to sleep as soon as I can, huhu.

The next day, the morning of 1st Syawal, I got ready to go to the mosque with my mother in law. In Sarawak they pray Solat Sunat Aidilfitri around 7.30-8.00am (unlike my hometown, KT, around 8.30-9.00am) so I had to wake up and get ready earlier. Yeah mind you that Subuh prayer in Sarawak is also earlier than Semenanjung for ~1hour, okay.. After we finished with that, we went home, did Salam Raya with family members and started to eat Rendang, Kari, Ketupat and everything my in law family cooked. Then parents in law together with husband went to the graves to recite some doa and prayers for their late family members. At about the afternoon, like most of Bintulu Muslims do during hari raya, we went for photoshoot in the studio. In Bintulu the percentage of Muslims not as much as in Semenanjung so most of non Muslims shops are open as usual including photoshoot studio..

With family in law on first Shawal 2013

In Bintulu, I learned that people are visiting relatives' and friends' houses not only during the day, but also at night. (If I am not mistaken, Semenanjung people rarely visit others' houses at night, but maybe that depends also on the family). And one more, Sarawakians wear Baju Raya (Baju Melayu, Kurung/Kebaya/etc) for the whole week of raya, not only on the 1st day of Shawal like Semenanjung Muslims! So these are quite interesting as they really celebrate Raya as much as they can.

On 2nd day of Shawal we went to Miri to visit some of my husband's relatives. We went back to Bintulu on the same day. Third Shawal we had some open houses by husband's relatives to attend, I did eat so many food at the open houses, my favourite Sarawak food are of course Laksa Sarawak and soups made by Sarawakians, as they taste different from what I eat at my hometown hehehehe.

On 3rd day of Shawal also, at night, my husband and I went back to KL by airplane, as we wanted to attend my younger sister's engagement ceremony on 4th Shawal afternoon in KT. We planned to go home as soon as we arrived KLIA but sadly both of us were so tired, we decided to sleep first and woke up earlier (at 4-5am the next morning) in order to reach my hometown, KT by noon.

We departed from KL quite early on 4th Shawal, ~6am, we managed to arrive KT at 11.30am. Yes of course the traffic was very okay, no traffic jammed at all, that was why the journey took shorter time than normal. As I arrived at my home, I ate some food and started to help my sister to get ready for her engagement. Most of our family members were there on her engagement day so I took my chance to meet all my family members including my nieces and nephews...

With family on younger sister's engagement ceremony

Overall, I had a happy Aidilfitri celebration, alhamdulillah, with my big families of both sides. Hope my next Aidilfitri will be as wonderful as this year's, inshaa Allah.... ☺

Review: My Engagement

I know this is a (super duper) overdue post but I am thinking to share it as I want to give a rough idea to some girls who would like to have a memorable, sweet engagement ceremony without spending too much money on it. This may be more useful for girls who live in Kuala Terengganu, as most of the vendors are located in Terengganu.

with beloved nephew and niece, Ammar and Damia

1. Mini Pelamin/Dais, Persalinan & Make Up

At the time I searched for engagement package, I was searching for a cheap one, of course. As I knew about this wedding boutique from my elder sister (she also used this boutique for her engagement ceremony), I did not think for a long time to make the decision. I messaged the owner of the boutique, Kak Ros, to book for engagement package a month before the date (I knew the date for my engagement quite late because both families agreed to have our engagement as soon as possible, haha), luckily Kak Ros accepted me to book her package and that was really a relief! It costed me only RM400 for all 3 things above. The pelamin was a simple one, also the persalinan (baju) and make up. But seriously I quite did not like my engagement make up as Kak Ros asked for her friend to replace her for me (Kak Ros had 4-5 other brides to make up on the same date), yes my engagement MUA did natural make up but I think my elder sister could do a better make up for me (rugi saja tau). But it was okay since the make up looked good in official photographer's pictures, I could say that my make up was okay. Haha. You can contact Kak Ros at her number - 0199268302, her boutique is located at her house at Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu, most of the time she is available to entertain you (as the boutique is her home, hehe).

2. Food

I asked for my dad's help to settle this one (I am daddy's girl, you know!) Dad booked nasi dagang Terengganu for ~100 guests with his relative, lives also in the same village as us (his relative is good in making delicious nasi dagang). My sisters did the drinks by themselves, and for tissue-pinggan mangkuk-gelas whatsoever, family bought them. As my ceremony was a simple, small one (which only involved families of both sides), food and drinks are served in the house, of course, no canopy whatsoever involved.

the hantarans

3. Hantaran

We wanted our hantarans to only include cheap, simple items, but since Sarawakians are people who give valuable items for hantaran during engagement, we ended up giving several items to each other (which others normally give during kahwin, hehe). So from his side, I got; Cincin+Sirih, Baju persalinan nikah, Handbag, Kasut and Kosmetik. And I gave him; Sirih, Kain pelikat, Baju persalinan kahwin, Kasut kerja, Kek, Buah and Coklat. All bought within our engagement budget. Oh yea, the gubahan? Abang booked the gubahans to be done by her sister's husband's auntie - Auntie Shamsiah (contact me if you want to get her number), and I just re-used bekas hantaran my SIL gave to my brother during their wedding (lol). :-)

me and my MIL

4. Official Photographer

As I only knew my engagement date few weeks before the ceremony, this was the toughest one to get. I contacted many photographer in Kuala Terengganu and most of them were fully booked for the date, the ones who were available charged quite high (as high as the wedding photography package). As I wanted only photographer who could offer me budget package - Shoot & Burn, I tried contacting my ex-senior (schoolmates), he is part time wedding photographer, and he said he was available on my engagement date, I was so happy. Seriously, I love all photos he took for my engagement ceremony, I could say having him as my engagement photographer was worth it. He managed to make the ceremony looked so smooth and good, and the props (eventhough very simple) looked beautiful. I would recommend brides to be in Terengganu to book him as wedding photographer, he is a really good one, friendly and very helpful, plus you can get your pictures as soon as 2 weeks after the ceremony (like how he did to me), and I think that was awesome. You can contact him on his Facebook - M Shahmi Shukri

So I think that's all for my engagement review. Everything was so simple and I did not overspend any pennies for this. And thanks to both sides of our family for their supports during the ceremony, really appreciate that very much. :-)
