Back in Terengganu

Alhamdulillah, i am back in my beloved hometown, Terengganu Darul Iman, semalam pukul 10 pagi.

Amin.

The University of Melbourne Graduation

Alhamdulillah, i managed to complete my studies in Bachelor of Science (majors in Genetics and Biotechnology) in University of Melbourne officially last June 30, 2008. And yesterday, at 10.30am, i attended the Graduation Ceremony or Conferring of Degrees Ceremony by which i received my official testamur. The ceremony was a compact, simple, yet an excellent and prestigious ceremony, which would always be a memorable moment in my life.

The ceremony started by the graduands and guests entering the Wilson Hall. At 10.30am sharp, the procession (Chief Marshall, Marshall, Doctor graduands etc) entered the hall.

Then, the welcome and occasional addresses were given by the Deputy Chancellor and Deputy Secretary of Primary Industries, respectively. The degrees were then conferred to the new graduands according to their faculty, started by bachelors to masters to doctorates graduands. A valedictory speech was given by the valedictorian before the ceremony ended, by which the procession and new graduands leaving the hall.

Thanks a lot to my professional photographer, Suhaimi (also known as Archiprez) for spending his time with us taking my graduation photos.

Thanks also to Erol, for the lilies bouquet and to Kai for the beautiful red rose, as my graduation presents.

Thanks to all my friends that attended my graduation session too- Erol, Zaity, Kai, Thanges, Azyan, Finaz, Fendi, Suhaimi etc. Spending the day with you all, makes my graduation pictures even more stunning. All of you are very sporting, and i love our 'Lompat' pictures so much. Love you all so much...

The Farewell Dinner

A farewell dinner, before i go home (Malaysia) this Thursday night. Thanks to all my best friends in Melbourne, the JENGKELMATES family for spending their time with me last night- Zaity, Thanges, Syaza, Fendi, Kai, Deva, Ashwinna, Finaz, Mat Rik, Vanis, Kucai, Erol etc. We had our dinner at MyCube a new restaurant in Lygon Street, between 8pm and 10pm.

The atmosphere of the MyCube restaurant is good, and besides eating, you can also play boardgames. And also, thanks to the friendly waitresses for being patient with the 'Kejengkelan-kejengkelan' this Jengkelmates gang. The only not-so-good thing for the restaurant was the food. As usual and of course, the Jengkelmates that are popular with their 'Kejengkelan-kejengkalan yang nyata' would comment about the food. We gave our constructive comments to help the restaurant to perform better in the future, because we are good customers and we care about other people.

It is quite sad to leave Melbourne. Being here for almost 3 and half years with good friends and wonderful memories, thanks to all of you.

And to Jengkelmates, ''teruskan perjuangan anda di Melbourne dan juga masa depan, bukan sahaja dalam pelajaran malahan juga dalam semua aspek kehidupan anda''. You all are very special to me, my family in Melbourne. =)

The Shrine of Remembrance

One of my favourite building in Australia. I went there last Saturday afternoon, which might be the last time i spent my time near this building. Being one of attractive places in Melbourne, Victoria, The Shrine of Remembrance is one of the most visited war memorial in Victoria, and located near St Kilda Road.

The Shrine of Remembrance was built between July 1928 and November 1934, to remember about 114,00 men and women who served and died in the Great War 1914-1918. This building design was selected in a competition among artistes and architects. The winners were Philip Hudson and James Wardrop, the two Melbourne returned soldier architects. The Shrine of Remembrance was officially opened to the public by Prince Henry, the Duke of Gloucester and son of King George V in November 1934.Most professional photographers fall in love with this place. If you come to Melbourne, do not forget to come here, the entrance is free! And you will love this place because the scenery is beautiful and awesome. =)

Petang tadi saya cakap saya nak makan bubur nasi.

Bahan-bahan:
2-3 ulas bawang merah
2-3 ulas bawang putih
Sedikit halia
2 cawan nasi

Mix vegetable
Bebola ikan/daging/udang dihiris nipis (suka hati)
Kiub ayam (optional)
Tauhu goreng

Selamat mencuba~

The Rainbow

Last Sunday at 4pm, i went to Melbourne city to buy some groceries. It was cold and windy. And it was raining drizzly. Suddenly i saw something beautiful in the sky, a Rainbow. Yes, a Rainbow. So i took the chance to take some photos of the rainbow.
Rainbow appears in the sky when the sun shines onto water droplets of the atmosphere, causing a spectrum of light to present there. Rainbow does not exist in the sky and scientifically it is an optical illusion which depends on the observer's location and the position of the sun. The sun is located behind the person that see the rainbow and the circular arc of the rainbow is in the direction opposite to the sun. And the rain is in the direction of the rainbow.

Below are some quotes that are related to rainbow;-

1. Walk on a rainbow trail; walk on a trail of song, and all about you will be beauty. There is a way out of every dark mist, over a rainbow trail. -Robert Motherwell
2. The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears. -John Vance Cheney
3. Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray. - Lord Byron
4. "Kadangkala Allah hilangkan sekejap matahari. Kemudian Dia datangkan pula guruh dan kilat. Puas kita menangis, mencari di mana matahari. Rupa-rupanya Allah nak hadiahkan kita pelangi."

I Still Call Australia Home - Qantas

Iklan Australia kegemaran aku, iklan Qantas, syarikat penerbangan Australia. Dan kemana pun aku pergi, I Still Call MALAYSIA Home..

I Still Call Australia Home

I've been to cities that never close down
from New York to Rio and old London town
but no matter how far or how wide I roam
I still call Australia home

I'm always travelIing, I love being free
and so I keep leaving the sun and the sea
but my heart lies waiting over the foam
I still call Australia home

All the sons and daughters spinning 'round the world
away from their family and friends
but as the world gets older and colder
it's good to know where your journey ends

Someday we'll all be together once more
when all of the ships come back to the shore
I realise something I've always known
I still call Australia home

Here In My Home

Hold on brother hold on
The road is long, we're on stony ground
But I'm strong, you ain't heavy
Oh there misspoken truth that lies
Colors don't bind, oh no
What do they know, they speak falsely

Here in my home
I'll tell you what it's all about
There's just one hope here in my heart
One love undivided
That's what it's all about
Please won’t you fall in one by one by one [with me]?
Push back sister won’t you push back?
Love won’t wait, just keep pushing on
Yes I’m strong, you ain’t heavy
Oh don’t you worry about that
What we have the shadows can’t deny
Don’t you know it’s now or never?

[Malay: TRANSLATED]
Years of fears and years of tribulation
The heart keeps searching for that endless devotion

[Chinese: TRANSLATED]
Hand in hand we’ll march like blood brothers
I speak for my people hope we’ll find peace forever

[Tamil: TRANSLATED]
May the road ahead quench my thirst for success
May the road behind echo a song of the blessed

[English]
So I will let it be known yes I feel it in my bones
No matter where I roam this is home sweet home
Sing!

Churros

Image from Don Churro

Churro, also known as Spanish doughnut, is a crispy fried dough snack and believed to be originated from Spain. This food becomes more popular in Latin America, Europe, USA and Australia. Churros are best eaten while it is still hot and warm. I usually buy churros when i go to Queen Victoria Market as it is quite cheap, about 6 bucks for 7 pieces.

For those who want to try making your home made churros, you can try the recipe given below. The recipe is taken from Divine Recipe website.

1/4 cup butter or margarine, Cut into small pieces
1/8 tsp. salt
1-1/4 cups All purpose flour, sifted
3 eggs
1/4 tsp. Vanilla extract
Salad oil for deep frying
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar

-In a medium saucepan, combine butter with 1/2 cup water. Stir over low heat until butter is melted. Bring just to boiling; add salt, and remove from heat.
-Add flour all a once; beat very hard with a wooden spoon. over low heat, beat until very smooth-about 2 minutes.
-Remove from heat; let cool slightly. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Continue beating until mixture has a satinlike sheen.
-Meanwhile, in a deep skillet or deep fryer, slowly heat salad oil (at least 1-1/2 inch) to 380* on deep fry thermometer.
-Press the doughnut mixture through a large pastry bag with a large, fluted tip, 1/2 inch wide. With wet scissors, cut batter into 2 inch lengths as it drops into hot oil.
-Deep fry, a few at a time, 2 minutes on each side, or until
golden-brown. Lift out with slotted spoon; drain well on paper towels.
-Meanwhile combine cinnamon and sugar in a medium bowl.
-Toss drained doughnuts in sugar mixture to coat well. Serve warm.

Besides, you can create your own shape if you love to.

For those who are vegetarian and do not eat eggs, you can replace the eggs by using small amount of vinegar (thanks Thangie for the information). You can also use other type of vegetable oil, instead of salad oil. Remember to use the right fluted tip, as shown in the picture below, to make the prism shape churro.

I love churros as it is very tasty. As i am going home soon, i know it is hard for me to find churros in my hometown, so i am using the time left for me here to eat as many churros as i can.

Yes. I do love great food, and i eat a lot. He he he.
